Birthday Book Tags

Yesterday, as you can probably tell from the title was my birthday. I turned 18!! I feel so old and as I live in the UK it’s a major birthday because I can legally buy/drink alcohol! Whoop Whoop, bring on the G&T’s XD.
I’m currently on holiday with my family so sadly I cannot celebrate with my friends.
But instead, I thought I would smash a couple of birthday related tag’s together and celebrate that way.
I found the Epic Birthday Tag on Siobhan Novelties – you should check her out cause I love her. And I found the Birthday Book Tag on Bionic Bookworm which you probably also know I adore too.
And without further ado, Happy Birthday to me and on with the tags.

The Epic Birthday Blog Tag

The Rules

  1. Always Always Always pingback/link to icebreaker694‘s site (she wants to see your answers).
  2. Post this on your birthday!!! Or not, y’know, you do you.
  3. Answer the questions! (You might have to do some digging, hope that’s not a problem.)
  4. Tag as many bloggers as you can! (At least 1+ so the tag won’t die!)

When’s your birthday (month + day)?

June 30th

What’s your Zodiac sign?

Cancer (how cheery)

What’s your birthstone?

Multiple but the most common are pearl and moonstone. Moonstone is my fave.

Do you know someone with the same birthday?

Cheryl Cole? She doesn’t really count XD.

What historical event occurred on your birthday?

The Night of the Long Knives (Germany 1934) – which I learnt about in history. It was when the strongest SA branch of the Nazi’s was executed by Hitler because he feared they were too powerful. (Again cheery)

What do you usually do to celebrate your birthday?

I am normally on holiday with my family at the time but I eventually at some point or another have my friends over for food and movies because nothing beats movies and food, except for books.

Were you born in the morning, afternoon or night?

Night, 7pm I think. I was mean, by not only being two weeks late but also putting my mum through a 3-day labour. (Sorry 🙂 )

If you could have any present in the world, what present would it be?

I can’t even think. I should probably say the end of world hunger or something selfless like that but is that really a present? I’m going to say, a house. A house I designed myself (Because I wanted to be an architect for a long time in my life so I know how to do that nonsense kinda) with an incredible library, writing office and make-up room XD.

How did you get your name?

I am named after my Dad’s aunt named Marion which was shortened to May for ease. Despite having many bad nicknames and mocking for it over the years because it rhymes with everything, I love it. My only pet peeve is when people spell it Mae cause that ‘s Meeh, not May XD.

Have you ever forgotten your birthday?

Never, but there’s still time.

Book flash: Five books you’d want to be given on your special day!

EH…I don’t know. I’m going to the shops tomorrow and I will probably pick up some stuff but I don’t tend to plan ahead with the books I buy, I am very much the kind of person to visit a Waterstones and decide the books I like then.

HufflepuffNerdette, despite the fact your birthday’s not till December.

And anyone else who wants to do it because I wasn’t tagged so you shouldn’t have to be either.

1. BIRTHDAY CAKE – a book with a plot that seems cliche but you adore it anyway

Eh, every book I read XD okay no but I am definitely partial to a cliche book or two. But I’m going to pick Pink Lock Picks and Sequined Witch Hats by Carla Rehse. It is one of my all-time faves despite its cliche-esque nature. I review this last year: HERE

2.PARTY GUESTS – your most anticipated book release this year

Like I said in the previous tag, I am not one for waiting on prereleases but I am waiting on Eve of Man coming out in Paperback. SO I think that counts. But technically that comes out next January.

3.BIRTHDAY PRESENTS – a book that surprised you with how much you loved it

One Night With Hemsworth!! 100% This shocked me. I was not expecting to love this, I didn’t even finish reading the blurb because I didn’t think I would but I needed a book to numb me so I read it and fell in love. Review HERE.

4.THE HAPPY BIRTHDAY SONG – a book that certainly deserved all the hype it got

Storm Front by Jim Butcher. I read this for my English Dissertation and I loved it. You need to read this if you like fantasy with odd/blue humour. I loved the characterisation of this book. I have not done a review of this yet as I am waiting on my exam results before I can post snippets of my dissertation.

5. HAPPY MUSIC – a book with some very beautiful and truly memorable quotes

OOOH!! This is tough because I have two book series that I adore because the humour is so me that I literally find a great quote on each age. So I am going to cheat and put in both. Firstly The Mad World Series By Christine Zolendz cause that’s incredible and secondly The Lynburn Legacy Series by Sarah Rees Brennan which I have a review of, with some of my fave quotes HERE.

6. GETTING OLDER – a book that you read a long time ago, but you think that you would appreciate it more if you read it as a more mature reader

Um, I didn’t read this a long time ago but Master of Perceptions by Darin C Brown which I reviewed the other week: HERE. This definitely would have benefitted from me reading this later in life. Maybe next year.

7. SWEET BIRTHDAY MEMORIES – a book that kept you incredibly happy during a sad or demanding period of your life

I don’t know if this counts but I read Alex Approximately by Jenn Bennett when I was super super super stressed for my exams and this completely calmed me. The exams I sat after reading it, I got better scores in so maybe this is my lucky book. My review of this is also HERE.

So, that’s the two tags for today. I hope you enjoyed this, maybe you learnt something about me if that interests you. It gave me a good post to do while sitting in my hotel room so that’s how I’m celebrating…until I get back home and then I’m hitting the clubs. (if I ever get my nose out of the book I’m reading)

Thanks and Happy Reading,
