Hiya,

How was everyone’s week? Mine was pretty chilled, just relaxing in the sun, reading and eating pancakes – so living the good life. I am part of the promotional tour for this book, so thank you very much to Black and White Publishing and Ink Road for sending me the ARC in return for an honest review. As I mentioned at the very end of my last post I completely adored this book and it has instantly jumped to my favourite read of the summer! But without further ado…I will dive right in.

Title: A Bad Boy Stole My Bra A bad boy stole my bra
Author: Lauren Price
Genre: Young Adult, Romance, Contemporary
Publication Date: 12th July 2018
Publishers: Ink Road, Black and White Publishing
Pages: 304

Summary: Imagine waking up in the dead of night to find your hot new neighbour dangling out of your window. What’s more, he’s clutching your tattiest bra in his hand.
What. The. Actual. Fudge.
Meet Alec Wilde, notorious bad boy and dedicated prankster. And After their “unconventional” introduction, Riley Greene is determined to get her own back. If Alec wants a prank war, that’s exactly what he’ll get. It’s game on.

This blurb had me at the first word. I could sense straight away that THIS was going to be my book of the summer!
Hot Neighbour – Check
Promising Hate-to-Love Relationship –  Double Check
Confident Female Protagonist – Triple Check
And most importantly…Corny Teenage Avoidance of Swearing – BIG FAT CHECK!!
After reading, I think the blurb describes the book incredibly well…while it avoids a major plot line in Riley’s past that’s important to the plot, I don’t mind that it wasn’t included because it didn’t decrease the likelihood of me picking up the book. If anything, I was probably more likely to get it because it focused on their rivalry/friendship/romance and that is personally the biggest draw to books for me.

If you couldn’t already tell, I am in love with this book. The plot was incredible! The balance between the multiple plots was exceptional and I was always excited and on edge about what happened next. I read it in a single day because I was so enamoured and enthralled by it all. Every plot was interesting and nothing seemed like it was only filler or stalling, it all had a purpose and it was just wonderful.

Both the cover and the title grabbed my attention too! The title sells itself, because can you get more intriguing? And I loved the colour because if you couldn’t tell from the colours of my blog…yellow and pink are my favourite colours but it also draws the eye and the bright pink bra is a very cute logo to represent the story and the wee paper aeroplanes are so adorable! So Jem Butcher Design did very well!

Writing Style: I loved the style in which Lauren wrote. Maybe because she is relatively young herself it made me relate better and enjoy it more but whatever the reason her writing seemed infectious. I wanted to just keep reading. It was an incredible balance between slang/catch-phrasey-esque sayings and eloquently written description and feelings. Very true to how young people speak and act which I always love.

My favourite element of both the plot and her writing was the bad/sexual jokes that Alec constantly bombarded Riley with throughout the book no matter what other things are going on around them. I loved this especially because it is exactly my humour and I definitely know people my age who are like this and it was both authentic and had me in stitches. I was laughing so loudly my brother was scared for my well-being so if that isn’t an indication of the level of humour then I don’t know what is. My favourite exchange of the whole selection of jokes, which has left my copy of the book tear stained was at the bottom of page 160 so I thoroughly recommend you read that bit in Waterstones (or other booksellers) if you want an example of the humour. And just like on the blurb, the very well timed avoidance of swearing continues and makes me very happy because that was me and still is me to a T.

Goodreads Review: This was my immediate reaction after and during my reading process and I thought you might want to read it because it encapsulates everything I still feel about this book and Lauren Price’s incredible writing.

I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S OVER!! I WANT MORE. NO, I NEED MORE.
The writing, the humour, the plot, the characters everything was perfect! I’ve not read a Contemporary Young Adult Romance this incredible in ages! I laughed so hard I cried on multiple occasions, I screamed so loudly my parents thought I had injured myself and I fell so hard for these characters I think it will take me a while to get over this one.
5/5 stars! No words to describe how much I loved this. I can’t recommend it enough. Lauren Price, I think I am your new biggest fan and I will patiently (or not so patiently) await whatever you write next!!

Characters/Relationships: As I briefly touched on earlier, Riley is a brilliant female protagonist. She is witty, determined and confident in herself but not flashy and pushy about it. She acknowledges her flaws but doesn’t let them get her down except the major plotline from her past which kind of dictates her life for a while but it’s a realistic adaptation to her normal actions and personality and her newly discovered friendships help her build on her flaws and she changes and it’s so good and AHHH no words for how well I believe Lauren has written Riley!
Alec very similarly is charming, hilarious and downright annoying but in the best way possible if that even makes sense. His past is not touched on greatly but you get glimpses of it throughout that add to his character without detracting from the main plots or seem too out of the blue. His relationship with his sister is ADORABLE and I love it because it reminds me of my brother and me and it gives him a different side to the mischievous and cocky bad boy that Riley normally sees. Throughout I was totally thinking that I need to read this book from his POV because that would just fill me with pure happiness and joy…so I will be waiting eagerly for that if it ever happens.

Their realtionship…how to I describe something so perfect and incredible? It was the perfect hate-to-love romance that had me itching for whatever scraps of cuteness I could grab in every scene. It was slow building and flowered into the cutest friendship with the most sexual tension EVER! And…I am still reeling from all the emotions that I am too excited and happy to process. In other words, they are just TOO CUTE TO HANDLE!!

Now, one of my favourite characters is Joe, also Dylan…but Joe more. They are Alec’s friends and soon become Riley’s friends too. They are also mischievous and funny and just all round loveable characters. Joe pushes both main protagonists out of their shells and just adds to the comedy of the situations. So yeah, I love him. I also really liked Violet who is Riley’s best friend and their girly rants and reliance on each other melts my heart and I love it. Also, I totally ship Violet and Dylan and I need a book for their blossoming romance!

So…I think that’s everything I want to talk about, but I have a feeling I have forgotten something…and if it comes back to me I will add it. But just to summarise, if you couldn’t tell I LOVED THIS BOOK. 5/5 stars. It was incredible. I thoroughly recommend you check it out. Thank you so much again to Lauren Price, Black and White publishing and Ink Road for kindly sending me this book. Also for the Skittles that came in the post with the book because I love Skittles and I swear they were gone in seconds!! Today is the last day of the tour but if you are interested in seeing the other incredible bloggers opinions on this book you can find all their twitter handles on the banner if you are already craving more of the book. I can’t wait to see what comes next both from Lauren and from Ink Road because they are on a roll! I think that’s all folks, see you soon!

Thanks and Happy Reading,
