How are you today? I’ve just been busy writing an essay for my Art History module, I think it’s going well? Maybe. Anyway, I thought I’d take a short break to write a post and I was looking back over things I hadn’t done in a while and the last time I did a Dream Adaptation was March last year, so it’s about time I do another.
Today I will be transforming The Flynn Series by Sophie McKenzie into my dream adaptation of it. If you didn’t know, this was the series that made me fall in love with reading so it holds a special place in my heart. It is also an incredibly well-written and gripping Series that I think gauges the balance between romance and plausible-action. Obviously, I think it’s 5/5 stars, and I have a full review of the first book in the series HERE. I actually found this a little hard, not only because I’ve not read it for a couple of years but because it’s so important to me and I see the characters in my head so clearly that I don’t want to compromise anything XD. I hope it turns out well.
Summary of Book 1: This is life, not a rehearsal…
When River auditions for a part in an inter-school performance of Romeo and Juliet, she finds herself smitten by Flynn, the boy playing Romeo. River believes in romantic love, and she can’t wait to experience it. But Flynn comes from a damaged family – is he even capable of giving River what she wants? The path of true love never did run smooth…
Production: This would be a tv show. 4 seasons, one for each book. Each season would have 10 episodes. Therefore each episode would cover roughly 3 chapters from the books. I would want Josh Schwartz to direct because he has worked with YA plots before and he has also worked with the book to tv adaptations so he would be respectful with the way it is portrayed.
Cast: I have linked to each of the actors IMDb pages and list what they are most famous for. Also, this might not be exactly how they are described in the books, more how I have always pictured them in my head over the years. They are also not perfect but the closest I think I could manage, especially not Flynn, I don’t think I got him quite right. If you have any better suggestions please leave them below.
