Who Am I? Book Tag

Hi Y’all,

Happy Sunday! How are you? I’m good. Just sent off an essay early for once – so I am in a dandy mood. Today’s post was going to be a review of Distortion (Phobos #2) by Victor Dixen but I saw Laura from TheBookCorps do this tag and had to do it straight away before I forgot so let’s jump right into it!

QUESTION 1: IF YOUR LIFE WERE A BOOK GENRE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

I’m sad to admit it would not be romance…(not through lack of trying though 🤣) so, it would probably be fantasy because it’s a miracle that I’m still single 😉
No, seriously. It would be fantasy because I’ve always had an interest in the ethereal and mysterious – even as a kid when I wasn’t dreaming about being a princess, I was dreaming about being a fairy with water powers.

QUESTION 2: WHAT VILLAIN FROM A BOOK DO YOU IDENTIFY WITH THE MOST?

This is kind of easy, Blake from the Lux Series by Jenifer L. Armentrout. While he is not the BIG BAD in the book, he is definitely not a good guy. But he also is only doing it to save his best friend – his family. Yes he lies, and yes he maims innocents and yes he basically ruins lives and threatens the existence of a whole race but it’s for love and family…I would like to think I have that kind of loyalty for those I care about when it comes down to it.

QUESTION 3: WHAT PROTAGONIST ARE YOU MOST SIMILAR TO?

This is hard, I think I will pick two because I kind of has two very different sides to my personality. I know most people do, but I think it’s really tough to find only one character who has both these sides to them.
Firstly, I would say I am like Kami Glass from the Lynburn Legacy series by Sarah Rees Brennan for a couple reasons: She’s weird – like she talks to an imaginary guy in her head for decades, not caring what people think, and while I am not THAT weird…I definitely can slot into that category on occasion. She’s very into writing – like me. She’s determined – when it comes down to it, I can be very competitive, decisive and extremely stubborn to make sure I have at least a little control of the situation and help have the best outcome possible. And finally, she’s a natural leader – and while I don’t enjoy leading, somehow I have recently found myself taking that role occasionally and I think I’m okay at it.
My second character is Grace from the Mad World series by Christine Zolendz. She is sarcastic – this is the only type of humour for me. She is bold – she doesn’t care about what anyone thinks, she does what she wants and shows who she is, I think in recent years I have definitely been more like that. She loves music – I too am obsessed with music and while I can’t play the guitar like her I will not stop trying to learn. And finally, she is devoted – I would like to say I am very devoted to those I care about…hopefully anyway 😅.

QUESTION 4: WHICH BOOK DID YOU CONNECT WITHIN THE PAST THAT YOU NO LONGER DO?

This is tough, because like I said I was not a reader as a child or even in my early teen years so I’ve not had many years to develop reading tastes. But I can take a guess at the fact that I read Once by Morris Glietzman in primary school and adored it. However, if I re-read it now I probably wouldn’t love it as much as my reading has improved so much overtime obviously as it was a children’s book.

QUESTION 5: WHAT RECENT BOOK READ WOULD YOU LOVE TO BE A CHARACTER IN?

I would love to be in the Struck series by Joss Stirling because not only have I always wanted to be a writer, a singer, a princess, a fairy with water powers but I have also wanted to be a spy. Plus their friendships and comradery are so cute. And they have unordinarily good luck with falling in love on missions so…I wouldn’t complain if that happened to me, 😉

QUESTION 6: HOW DO YOUR READING HABITS SHOW OFF YOUR PERSONALITY?

One aspect of my personality that I didn’t define with the above characters is that I can be somewhat anti-social on occasion. And that really reflects in my reading, I have to be alone, where it’s quiet – no music, not speaking, nothing. I also have to be in my bed where it’s comfy, which I think also represents me pretty well.

QUESTION 7: WHAT BOOK TAUGHT YOU SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF?

This is so tough because I learn new things fro every book I read, whether I enjoyed it as a story or not. But maybe it was because I was young when I first read it by the Flynn Series by Sophie McKenzie was extremely influential on 12 years old me. Firstly, this was the first book that made me fall in love with reading so it taught me to try anything twice, even if you didn’t like it last time you tried. It made me change my outlook on people too, not everyone is as put together or as perfect as they first appear, so I should never judge a book by its cover, which seems obvious – but as a 12-year old that’s pretty solid info for the start of high school hell drama.

I can’t believe this tag is over already! I loved doing this, I missed doing tags and this was incredible. I’m so glad I found it, so you should definitely go check out Laura’s answers which I have linked at the top of the page.
