New Years Resolutions Tag/ My Reading Resolutions for 2020

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

I hope you all had a great Hogmanay and year in general. Let’s hope the next one is just as great if not better. Today’s post I also did two years ago (HERE), just like yesterday’s post. I liked doing it in 2018 so hence I thought I would just copy my past self. Here is what I said at the time, since it seems to be put far more eloquently and succinctly than any attempts I have done at trying to reword it this time 🤣🤣.

I saw this tag on Bookish Queen Blog and liked the questions. I also realised that I am slowly running out of year to do these types of posts and thought I could quickly bundle my reading goals for 2018 onto the end of this one cause they are pretty short anyway. The original creator of this tag was Charr Frears. I hope you enjoy.

1. An author you’d like to read (that you’ve never read before).

Two years ago I said Sarah J. Maas…which to many of my friends disappointment (Mainly Allie, sorry 😅) I still have not read anything she has written, ever. So I’m going to say her again, but as well as that I want to read some Maggie Stiefvater because I always say I want to read her stuff and I never get around to it despite having started them.

2. A book you’d like to read.

Again, in my post from 2 years ago I said – One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus, which my best friend Cara recommended and I still haven’t done it. Maybe I’ll do it this year.

But just as above, so that’s not a cop out of an answer. A book that I am ecstatic to read this year is The Pisces by Melissa Broder. I got this for Christmas so I think it will be one of my first reads this year.

3. A classic you’d like to read.

I know I’m reading Frankenstein by Mary Shelley this year for my course and I am very excited of that!

4. A book you’d like to re-read.

Anyone who frequents my lovely little blog, will know I adore re-reading, so picking just one to re-read is tough. Though recently I have been going through a Jenn Bennett phase, so I will probably re-read one of her amazing novels.

5. A book you’ve had for ages and want to read.

Last time I said Twilight – Eclipse. Which I again need to read but there is something more pressing taking over… Matched by Ally Condie. I have started this book (no kidding) 5 times and never got past the 50th page. I will not let it beat me!!

6. A big book you’d like to read.

I hate reading long books, I never have the patience to last through a long book 😅 But the longest book I will probably attempt to get through is Collision by Victor Dixen (450ish pages I think). It’s the final instalment of the Phobos series and even though I think I know what happens I think I need to read it anyway.

7. An author you’ve previously read and want to read more of.

As I mentioned earlier, I am going through a Jenn Bennett phase again, so I want anything and everything she’s written.

8. A book you got for Christmas and would like to read.

I got Technically, You Started It by Lana Wood Johnson. And I have just started it. So far it’s amazing! The style of it is so different and intriguing. I can’t wait for it to heat up more.

9. A series you want to read from start to finish.

For the past few months or so I have only been wanting to read stand-alones, so this is a really tough questions cause I can’t think of anything. But upon great thought I’m going with the Cherub Series by Robert Muchamore. It’s got about 16 books in the series and you grow up with the main characters. I have been meaning to and just haven’t got around to it yet.

10. A series you want to finish that you’ve already started.

I want to finish the Agency Series by Y.S.Lee. I’ve read the first two and just have the last two to read. They are high intensity, historical romance mixed with spying. What more could you want?

11. Do you set reading goals? If so, how many books do you want to read in 2020?

I do and here they come…

Firstly my overall goal of the year is to read 48 books. I read 40 this past year and I hope to get close to that but with a stressful school year ahead I don’t want the pressure of surpassing this years goal. If I can manage 48 I will be happy because that’s roughly 4 books a month and if I pass it I can always up it.
My other wee goal is to read at least 10 books I own but have not yet read cause if I don’t do that then my TBR will just keep piling up.

So thats it – a nice succinct list of goals – if I decide I want more I can always add it. I also have a blogging goal to post everyday in March like I have been doing for the past two years. I won’t promise a nice neat schedule other than that but hopefully it won’t be months between posts. Anyway, that’s the first post of 2020 written! I hope you enjoyed. I want to hear all of your reading goals below so we can go through the trials together. Have a good day.
