Hiya!
How are you? I finally finished this essay that has been plaguing me all week! And now I have to start on the next 😂😂. I really like doing these posts because I love hunting for new books – even if my bank account hates it, because I am literally terrible at not buying books that I like.
The basic premise is that I go hunting for things on Goodreads and then I tell you about the books I have found and that I’ve added to my ever-growing TBR.. Anyway, Let’s Get Started.
YA Historical Romance Fantasy Mystery?
This is such a jumble of genres but I had to include them all because it all sounds amazing!! The Beautiful (The Beautiful #1) by Renee Ahdieh caught me with the cover at first and then I read the blurb and it was a slow burn at first and then it mentioned the mystery and the romance and it’s in new Orleans and its historical and just ahhh like I need it now!!!

In 1872, New Orleans is a city ruled by the dead. But to seventeen-year-old Celine Rousseau, New Orleans provides her a refuge after she’s forced to flee her life as a dressmaker in Paris. Taken in by the sisters of the Ursuline convent along with six other girls, Celine quickly becomes enamored with the vibrant city from the music to the food to the soirées and—especially—to the danger. She soon becomes embroiled in the city’s glitzy underworld, known as La Cour des Lions, after catching the eye of the group’s leader, the enigmatic Sébastien Saint Germain. When the body of one of the girls from the convent is found in the lair of La Cour des Lions, Celine battles her attraction to him and suspicions about Sébastien’s guilt along with the shame of her own horrible secret. When more bodies are discovered, each crime more gruesome than the last, Celine and New Orleans become gripped by the terror of a serial killer on the loose—one Celine is sure has set her in his sights . . . and who may even be the young man who has stolen her heart. As the murders continue to go unsolved, Celine takes matters into her own hands and soon uncovers something even more shocking: an age-old feud from the darkest creatures of the underworld reveals a truth about Celine she always suspected simmered just beneath the surface
Fantasy Romance
I catagorised it as this because it doesn’t tell me whether it’s YA or NA, also doesn’t tell me if it’s historical or not…I’m guessing yes – but I didn’t want to presume. If anything it just makes me want to know more about Serpent and Dove (Serpent and Dove #1) by Shelby Mahurin.

Bound as one to love, honor, or burn.
Two years ago, Louise le Blanc fled her coven and took shelter in the city of Cesarine, forsaking all magic and living off whatever she could steal. There, witches like Lou are hunted. They are feared. And they are burned. Sworn to the Church as a Chasseur, Reid Diggory has lived his life by one principle: thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. His path was never meant to cross with Lou’s, but a wicked stunt forces them into an impossible union—holy matrimony. The war between witches and Church is an ancient one, and Lou’s most dangerous enemies bring a fate worse than fire. Unable to ignore her growing feelings, yet powerless to change what she is, a choice must be made.
And love makes fools of us all.
Adult Paranormal Romance Mystery
This is something a little different, and by a little different I do mean little cause its still paranormal, its still a romance and it’s still a mystery…it’s just the characters are adults but hey! Baby steps right? It wasn’t the cover that grabbed me for this, not saying it’s not nice…just not what I usually gravitate towards. This time it was because it’s a new release and it was suggested to me by the wonderful Goodreads: The Vanishing (Frogg Lake #1) by Jayne Ann Krentz.

Forty years ago in the small town of Fogg Lake, “The Incident” occurred: an explosion in the cave system that released unknown gases, causing peculiar effects on its residents, such as strange visions and ominous voices. Not wanting the government to get involved, they chalked it up to the hallucinogenic effects of mushrooms. Little did they know these effects would linger through the generations….
Residents Catalina Lark and Olivia Dayton have been best friends for years and own an investigation firm together, using what they call the “other sight” to help with their business. When Olivia goes missing, Cat frantically begins the search for her alone when the town does nothing about it. When scientist Slate Trevelyan shows up, she has no choice but to accept his help even though there’s something about him she just can’t trust. The duo discovers someone is hunting the two witnesses of a murder in Fogg Lake fourteen years ago—the very one Cat and Olivia witnessed as teens, one that they couldn’t prove happened. Cat and Slate’s search for Olivia takes them down a rabbit hole that is far more dangerous and mysterious than they ever expected, and with a killer in their midst, neither of them can foresee who will come out alive.
YA Urban Fantasy Romance
Wicked Fox (Gumiho #1) by Kat Cho. Not going to lie, it was the cover that initially drew me to this, and then I read the blurb and damn does it sound good. I’m so interested in old fairy tales and I also get a kind of siren/succubus vibe from this so this was definitely going on this list.

A fresh and addictive fantasy-romance set in modern-day Seoul.
Eighteen-year-old Gu Miyoung has a secret–she’s a gumiho, a nine-tailed fox who must devour the energy of men in order to survive. Because so few believe in the old tales anymore, and with so many evil men no one will miss, the modern city of Seoul is the perfect place to hide and hunt. But after feeding one full moon, Miyoung crosses paths with Jihoon, a human boy, being attacked by a goblin deep in the forest. Against her better judgment, she violates the rules of survival to rescue the boy, losing her fox bead–her gumiho soul–in the process. Jihoon knows Miyoung is more than just a beautiful girl–he saw her nine tails the night she saved his life. His grandmother used to tell him stories of the gumiho, of their power and the danger they pose to humans. He’s drawn to her anyway. With murderous forces lurking in the background, Miyoung and Jihoon develop a tenuous friendship that blossoms into something more. But when a young shaman tries to reunite Miyoung with her bead, the consequences are disastrous . . . forcing Miyoung to choose between her immortal life and Jihoon’s.
I know this wasn’t very many books again, I really did hunt for a while this time but either nothing caught my attention or I’m headed for a reading slump…oh no! 😅 Anyway, I hope you enjoyed if you’ve read any of these or they were on your TBR tell me about it below! Have a good day!

You got some good ones here which are literally all on my TBR, too lol
Congrats on finishing your paper and kick ass on the next one! (I’m in graduate school so I understand this constant struggle) 🙂
