Paediatry

Wednesday’s Word of the Week: Paediatry

Definition: the branch of Medicine that focuses on Children.

Where I Heard It: most of my family work in and around the medical world (I am so squeemish, I don’t know how they cope) so I have grown up around the term, especially as my mum works in a Paediatric department. However…I am forever confusing it with Podiatry which is a branch of Medicine that focuses on feet. Yeah – it’s not a great one to be mixed up with. Please tell me I’m not the only one to get mixed up?

Pronunciation: Paediatry = pee-dee-ah-tree
Podiatry = poe-die-ah-tree

Stay safe guys!!
