April Wrap Up 2020

Hi guys!

For one of the shorter months of the year, April really did drag on didn’t it! On a positive note, this is my 300th post on my blog which is insane because it definitely doesn’t feel like I’ve written that many. It’s coincidentally landing on my favoruite kind of post to write – my monthly wrap ups. Nothing makes me feel more productive than writing these because even if I’ve not done as much as the previous month, at least I did something right? I didn’t finish many books this month because they were both incredible and left me in a bit of a slump. So I kept starting other books but nothing was doing it for me, hopefully I will kick the slump in May – tips to do that please ❤

Currently Reading:

I should probably give up on this but haven’t yet is Obscured by C.M Boers. I read this a couple of years ago when it was sent to me to review, however, looking back I don’ think I gave it a very fair review so I am rereading it to see whether I still agree. I started this months ago, but it’s got supernatural/fantasy elements and I haven’t been in the mood for that recently so I haven’t wanted to pick it back up. In January I was sitting at about 70%. In March I got to 72%. And now I’m sitting at 74% so you know I’m getting there. When I first started rereading I got through it so quick and was loving it. I had no clue why I gave it such a harsh review and then I got to the 70% mark and it’s like a completely different writer has taken over. So disappointing.

Abby Martin thought she was an ordinary girl about to start high school. But when her mom announces that they’re moving to Arizona, vivid nightmares start plaguing Abby’s nights. As she settles into her new school and a cute guy named Pete catches her eye, she hopes that life might somehow get back to normal. To Abby’s horror, “normal” becomes a thing of the past as she’s swept up into a world of immortal protectors wielding supernatural gifts. When Abby realizes she’s a pawn in a centuries-old feud, she must figure out who she can trust before she’s caught in the crossfire. I also started The Rest of the Story by Sarah Dessen. So far I’m liking the characters and the build up to the main plot line is interesting. I just really am not a fan of the writing style but I’m going to power through because I’ve been told amazing things. Maybe i just have to give it more of a chance.

Emma Saylor doesn’t remember a lot about her mother, who died when she was ten. But she does remember the stories her mom told her about the big lake that went on forever, with cold, clear water and mossy trees at the edges. Now it’s just Emma and her dad, and life is good, if a little predictable…until Emma is unexpectedly sent to spend the summer with her mother’s family—her grandmother and cousins she hasn’t seen since she was a little girl. When Emma arrives at North Lake, she realizes there are actually two very different communities there. Her mother grew up in working class North Lake, while her dad spent summers in the wealthier Lake North resort. The more time Emma spends there, the more it starts to feel like she is divided into two people as well. To her father, she is Emma. I also started The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin. So far this is so good! Really intriguing, a little bit of a character overload but it will get easier as I get to know each one.

A bizarre chain of events begins when sixteen unlikely people gather for the reading of Samuel W. Westing’s will. And though no one knows why the eccentric, game-loving millionaire has chosen a virtual stranger—and a possible murderer—to inherit his vast fortune, one thing’s for sure: Sam Westing may be dead … but that won’t stop him from playing one last game!

The last book I am currently reading is The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary. I started this last summer and kinda got to a standstill but I was in the mood to pick it up again, so I read a little.

I have been listening to a whole bunch of random stuff this month. A good ol’ mix so I’m sure you guys will find something you like. Also a lot of Albums, I’ll try find a playlist of the whole album.

I’ve been loving watching Hermitcraft season 7. My faves are Grian, Scar, Mumbo and Iskall. They’re just amazing!
I don’t know if it counts as Youtube faves…but I have been watching Syndicate’s Minecraft streams on twitch and they are also hilarious.

Favourite Blog Post of the Month:

I have a couple.
Firstly, Blogging Mindset by Christian Mihai. – I always find his post so motivational.
Secondly, Don’t Write Everyday by ML Woldman. – it was just so inspirational and relatable and just I adored it.
And not to blow my own trumpet, but I loved my Tips for bloggers starting out – the response and support from everyone towards the community was just amazing!

Favourite Thing This Month:

I loved doing Camp NaNo this month…or what little I actually did for it.
I have also been loving the colour yellow. As you can probably tell by the new themeing for my blog and my banners etc. The field outside my window is currently filled with Rapeseed and while it’s causing me horrific hayfever, it is very stunning.
I also taught myself how to knit this month, and I’ve started on making a blanket. It’s so rewarding when you finish a section and after getting used to it it’s actually quite easy (atleast what I’m doing is) I recommend you give it a shot if your looking for a new hobby over the lock down period.
