Happy Monday! Do you have any fun plans for the week? I don’t have much planned except uni since I have some essays due that will be taking up most of my time.
I haven’t gotten many books this month because I have been drowning in Uni reading so, book shopping hasn’t been top of my to do list. I got most of the ones on this list from Netgalley and a few from Amazon that I need for my courses at uni. Last month I just put in some of my thoughts and then linked to Goodreads rather than putting the blurbs because it was such a long list; and you guys loved it! So I decided I would keep it on again since you guys seemed to like that style more. But yeah, enough rambling from me, let’s see the books I got this month.
All the physical books I bought this month were for my course at uni. I luckily didn’t have to buy too many as my very very kind friend lent me hers from last year but there were a couple new editions that I had to grab for myself. Obviously not too much to say about the books for this reason so I am just going to link their Goodreads if you’re interested.
Undone by Kathleen Lawless – Netgalley
I requested this because I am still riding that short story romance addiction and this seemed to fit into that category perfectly. But sadly it didn’t really work for me. The girls were kind of painful to read and although the premise was fun they let it down for me.
Chess Moves by Michael Walker Thomas – Netgalley
Yet another short story I picked up because of my recent appreciation for them but this was terrible. I do not recommend it at all. I gave it only a star. It was about 10 pages long and had no plot or good characters so you had no reason to read on. It was just the length of it that made me read on any longer and I definitely wouldn’t have read it.
Soothsayer by Kathryn Amurra – Sent by the Author
I read the blurb for this and fell in love with Cassius! I just knew I was going to love it and I was right. It was amazing. I have written a full review of it which I will link to in case you are interested. If you like romance and Ancient Rome then this is definitely a read for you.
The Summer Job by Lizzy Dent – Netgalley
Honestly? I don’t remember requesting this. But I just reread the blurb and it sounded pretty interesting. A girl runs off and pretends to be her friend to get her dream job. It’s set in Scotland so that was probably a strong factor in me picking it up. It has a pretty cover so hopefully I enjoy it once I get to it.
Late Love by Scarlett Hopper – Netgalley
I also don’t remember getting this one but it sounds like a sweet romance. We don’t get much about the premise out with the romance so who knows what could happen.
Swept Away by Skye Jordan – Netgalley
I grabbed this one because it is another shortish romance and I did really enjoy this one. Xavier was amazing and the premise was fun but Chloe is where it fell down for me. She was just so dull to read. I also thought there was no need for the reactions that happened at the end accept to create drama which annoyed me because if someone is going to freak out at least make it a valid reason.
Love Model by Adam Boustead – Netgalley
This is another one I have read. Again, I grabbed this because it was a short read and sounded like a cute romance…but no. Oh boy was it so far from that. It was the most confusing read I have ever read in my life. It had no plot and it was
Love in Lockdown by Chloe James – Netgalley
I grabbed this because it sounded cute but also how fun will it be to think back to reading it and have it remind me of lockdown. Plus it is a super fun premise for a book of not seeing the other person. I feel like a lot of shenanigans could occur.
The Man I didn’t Marry by Anna Bell – Netgalley
I picked this up because boy does the premise sound awesome!! Her husband loses him memory and a big secret pulls them apart but also shes falling in love with the new man whilst balancing him trying to regain his memories? Who wouldn’t pick that up!
That’s the books that I got this month, at least it was a shorter list than last months. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this. I will see you on Wednesday with my word of the week! See you then ❤
