March TBR 2021

Hi all,

Excited for March? I had an unbelievable reading month in February (22 books!) so I don’t know whether to go ambitious with my TBR this month or not. I think I am going to aim for 6-8 books so that it’s above last years average but less than 22 haha.
I am back to full time Uni work but I’m not going to put down the books that I have to read for my uni course because a lot of it is poetry and not really novels. Any way. enough rambles from me, you just want to know what I plan to read!

Currently Reading:

The White Hot Kiss Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I love JLA’s writing, and I have had this on my bookshelf for ages but just never picked it up. But I’m going through a thing where I’m loving reading fantasy series at the moment so I started it the other night and I have a feeling it’s going to be an instant fave. The humour is incredible. I hope it continues as strong as the opening is suggesting.

One kiss could be the last. Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she’s anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses. Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she’s crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she’s not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn’t an issue, considering Roth has no soul. But when Layla discovers she’s the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

New Standalone:

Fearless by Kaylene Winters. I was sent this to review via XpressoBookTours, so I know I am going to have to read and review this this month. I really like the premise of this and I hope I like it. There hasn’t been a cover reveal for this yet so you’ll just have to go off the blurb. It’s a rockstar romance so I have high hopes that I’m going to enjoy this. It is the third book in a series of standalone novels so you can read it without having read the first two.

Family is everything, I protect mine with my life. Connor McGloughlin had it all, a great family, a college scholarship and music. Tragedy forced him to grow up too fast. When his life finally is on track, Ronni Miller appears like a dream.
Kindred spirits in the most unlikely of circumstances. There’s only one thing in the way— Her dark past he’s determined to protect her from.
When your innocence is stolen, trust is a precious gift. Actress Ronni Miller tasted fame at a young age.
But her path to stardom was riddled with tragedy. She never imagined falling for Connor McGloughlin, a rogue, Irish rock star. The thing is? Ronni’s got revenge on her mind. Regardless of the risk or the consequences—
Or losing the one thing in her life that makes her feel alive. Connor has only ever asked Ronni for one thing: her heart.
But when her bravery is couched in lies? She risks losing the man who would do anything for her.
Will she realize being fearless means trusting true love?

New Series:

I have two series I would like to get to this month, because like I said – I have been loving series at the moment.

Firstly, I was so so kindly gifted the second book in the One of Us is Lying series by Karen M. McManus the other day via an amazing friend named Heather (@bujoandbooks4) via Bookstagram. And as I’ve heard amazing things about this series but never read it – I want to get to it this month.

The Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little LiarsOne of Us Is Lying is the story of what happens when five strangers walk into detention and only four walk out alive. Everyone is a suspect, and everyone has something to hide.

Pay close attention and you might solve this.
On Monday afternoon, five students at Bayview High walk into detention.
Bronwyn, the brain, is Yale-bound and never breaks a rule.
Addy, the beauty, is the picture-perfect homecoming princess.
Nate, the criminal, is already on probation for dealing.
Cooper, the athlete, is the all-star baseball pitcher.
And Simon, the outcast, is the creator of Bayview High’s notorious gossip app.
Only, Simon never makes it out of that classroom. Before the end of detention, Simon’s dead. And according to investigators, his death wasn’t an accident. On Monday, he died. But on Tuesday, he’d planned to post juicy reveals about all four of his high-profile classmates, which makes all four of them suspects in his murder. Or are they the perfect patsies for a killer who’s still on the loose?
Everyone has secrets, right? What really matters is how far you would go to protect them.

And the other new series I want to read this month is Hush Hush Series by Becca Fitzpatrick. This is another pretty cult series on the internet and I own the first 3 of the 4 – and yet I haven’t read any of them before. After starting White Hot Kiss (which is about demons) it really got me in the mood for some angels/demon based stories so that is why this has creeped onto my TBR this month.

Romance was not part of Nora Grey’s plan. She’s never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how hard her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch comes along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Patch draws Nora to him against her better judgment. But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora’s not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is and seems to know more about her than her closest friends. She can’t decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel. For she is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen – and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost Nora her life.

Continued Series:

How the High King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories by Holly Black. I finished the Folk of the Air trilogy in February and fell in love with Cardan and Jude…but mainly Cardan. And since I desperately needed more Cardan because 3 books of him just weren’t enough – I grabbed this book. The art is stunning. I am so excited to get more Cardan.

An irresistible return to the captivating world of Elfhame. Once upon a time, there was a boy with a wicked tongue. Before he was a cruel prince or a wicked king, he was a faerie child with a heart of stone . Revealing a deeper look into the dramatic life of Elfhame’s enigmatic high king, Cardan, tis tale includes delicious details of life before The Cruel Prince, an adventure beyond The Queen of Nothing, and familiar moments from The Folk of the Air trilogy, told wholly from Cardan’s perspective. This new installment in the Folk of the Air series is a return to the heart-racing romance, danger, humor, and drama that enchanted readers everywhere. Each chapter is paired with lavish and luminous full-color art, making this the perfect collector’s item to be enjoyed by both new audiences and old.

Lastly, if I manage to power through all of the ones above I want to get back to the Starcrossed series by Josephine Angelini. I read the first one in this series in 2017/2018 but I never finished the rest of the series and with me being hyped for Angels/Demons again I thought I would go back and reread the first before continuing on with the rest of the books.

Destiny brought them together.
The gods will keep them apart.
When shy, awkward Helen Hamilton meets Lucas Delos for the first time, she thinks two things: the first, that he is the most ridiculously beautiful boy she has seen in her life; the second, that she wants to kill him with her bare hands.
An ancient curse means Lucas and Helen are destined to loathe one another. But sometimes love is stronger than hate, and not even the gods themselves can prevent what will happen next…

That’s my TBR for this month, It’s more ambitious than my TBR’s usually are but I think I need the challenge. Anyway, I hope you have a great day and month ahead! ❤ Now for today’s Questions…

What is on your TBR this month?
Are you on track for you’re yearly reading goal if you have one?
What are your opinions on TBR’s – do you use them as a guide or do you follow them exactly?

  1. I really want to read One of us is lying this month too! But I can’t decide whether to read it as an ebook or a physical copy 🤔 😂 I tend to forget I’ve read it unless I physically have it
