Books I Got in March 2021

Hi guys!

So if you’ve been keeping up with my monthly hauls, then you will know I was meant to be on a book buying ban…again…but the fact I am making this post at all shows exactly how well this went. Technically…I didn’t spend much money – as I got a free trial of kindle unlimited, which is decidedly the best thing I have done in a while. It is such a good deal if you read a lot of spicy 18+ romances. But anyway, I still bought more than I planned because Amazon had a bit of a sale…and I couldn’t resist. Because this post is so so so long, I decided that unlike usual where I give a little shpeil about why I grabbed each book I decided I would do that if I have read it, but if not then I will just write the genres it fits under and link the goodreads and you can check it out if it sounds like your jam. But anyway, enough rambling – let me just show you what I got this month.

I read this and adored it. I will definitely have a full review out for this soon because it is definitely going to be one of my top reads of the year. I adored every page.

I actually wasn’t too blown away by my first Penelope Douglas read but I knew I loved the writing style and that was enough to set me on the following Penelope Douglas streak/addiction.

This was so good. I adored Ryen and Misha’s story. It was such a great mix of friends to lovers and enemies to lovers. Again, this was a spicy read – most certainly 18+ sex content.

This Penelope Douglas seems more romance-focused than plot-focused and I definitely like that. The development of the plot was a little odd and weirdly paced but ultimately I didn’t care because I adored the characters.

I really liked this. Probably more than Tate’s POV because it gave you just that little bit more but also because I always prefer guy’s POVs of romances.

This was during a phase of college sport romances that I wanted to read and my friend recommended it because it was free. It was super sweet and quick and I enjoyed it.

Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas
This is so far from my usual read – I typically stay away from Age Gap romances at all costs, but this had such an amazing twist on the typical Age Gap romance that it just blew away all my expectations. I really can’t rec this enough.

Credence by Penelope Douglas
I have also read this. I love Penelope Douglas’s writing and I liked some elements of this – mainly Kaleb and Noah… but otherwise this kind of missed the mark for me. I really disliked the MC and it made it a little difficult to read. I hope to get a review out for this soon.

This was another friend recommendation, sadly it wasn’t that great for me but I did love the writing style and it was a gateway into L J Shen as author.

The Hunter by L.J Shen
I really enjoyed this. I thought it had a great premise and was sweet. I loved Hunter – he was too funny. Seriously, this had me in stiches. I read this just before The Devil Wears Black and it definitely set me up into an amazing frame of mind for that book.

The Villain by L.J Shen
My friend hyped this one up a lot. I loved Percy, she was the best part about this book. I don’t know if I liked this more than the hunter however, I just think Hunter was a little funnier and more my kind of humour and I liked the premise of that more – but The Villain was still great!

The Perfect First by Maya Hughes
I read this because it was recommended to me by a friend because it was in the vein of college sport romances and that was currently what I was in the mood for at that time. I did enjoy it and the writing style was good.

Too Late by Colleen Hoover
I read this the other day and it didn’t blow me away. I liked it but I felt that it was ordered a little weirdly. I loved the premise though and Asa was an amazing character!

Fearless by Kaylene Winters – Xpresso Book Tours
I read this to be part of the blog tour but I sadly couldn’t rate it high enough so I did a promo post instead. The book order was bizarre and I felt it took all the interest out of the plot. I also wasn’t mad keen on the characters and it felt a little insta-lovey.

These Violent Nights by Rebecca Crunden – direct from the author
I am currently in the middle of reading this. I adore Thorn and Kol. They are amazing. Part 2 is really dragging this book down, I can’t wait for part 3 to pick up again.

I sadly had to DNF this as the writing style wasn’t for me but I liked the sound of the premise, it was just a YA contemporary romance.
