Hiraeth

Wednesday’s Word of the Week: Hiraeth

Definition: (it is a Welsh word) for longing or nostalgia, an earnest longing or desire, or a sense of regret. The feeling of longing for a home that no longer exists or never was. A deep and irrational bond felt with a time, era, place or person.

Where I Heard It: I was reading The Devil Wears Black by L.J Shen and this was one of the daily words that Mads best friend wrote for her. I loved it as a concept and had never head this word before so I thought it was perfect for a word of the week but am only getting around to using it now even though I read the book two weeks ago.

Pronunciation: Hir-eh-th

As always, Stay safe guys!
