My Monthly Anticipations and Goals – April 2021

Hi guys,

Happy Easter! I hope you are all drowning in chocolate and enjoying your day.
I don’t know how long today’s post will be because I only an anticipating a few things this month, but I hope you enjoy anyway.

Book Releases:

To Love and To Loathe by Martha Waters. I got this on Netgalley so I am excited for this, but I don’t know if I will get to it this month or not.
Release Date: 6th April
Blurb: The widowed Diana, Lady Templeton and Jeremy, Marquess of Willingham are infamous among English high society as much for their sharp-tongued bickering as their flirtation. One evening, an argument at a ball turns into a serious wager: Jeremy will marry within the year or Diana will forfeit one hundred pounds. So shortly after, just before a fortnight-long house party at Elderwild, Jeremy’s country estate, Diana is shocked when Jeremy appears at her home with a very different kind of proposition. After his latest mistress unfavorably criticized his skills in the bedroom, Jeremy is looking for reassurance, so he has gone to the only woman he trusts to be totally truthful. He suggests that they embark on a brief affair while at the house party—Jeremy can receive an honest critique of his bedroom skills and widowed Diana can use the gossip to signal to other gentlemen that she is interested in taking a lover. Diana thinks taking him up on his counter-proposal can only help her win her wager. With her in the bedroom and Jeremy’s marriage-minded grandmother, the formidable Dowager Marchioness of Willingham, helping to find suitable matches among the eligible ladies at Elderwild, Diana is confident her victory is assured. But while they’re focused on winning wagers, they stand to lose their own hearts.

The Summer Job by Lizzy Dent. This is another book that got on Netgalley and is releasing this month. I love this because 1 – it’s set in Scotland. And 2 – it gives me School of Rock vibes.
Release Date: 15th April
Blurb: Have you ever imagined running away from your life? Well Birdy Finch didn’t just imagine it. She did it. Which might’ve been an error. And the life she’s run into? Her best friend, Heather’s. The only problem is, she hasn’t told Heather. Actually there are a few other problems… Can Birdy carry off a summer at a luxury Scottish hotel pretending to be her best friend (who incidentally is a world-class wine expert)? And can she stop herself from falling for the first man she’s ever actually liked (but who thinks she’s someone else)?

Dial A for Aunties by Jesse Q Sutanto. This is another book I got on Netgalley, now doesn’t this sound just AMAZING! so so so up my street!
Release Date: 27th April
Blurb:
1 (accidental) murder
2 thousand wedding guests
3 (maybe) cursed generations
4 meddling Asian aunties to the rescue!
When Meddelin Chan ends up accidentally killing her blind date, her meddlesome mother calls for her even more meddlesome aunties to help get rid of the body. Unfortunately, a dead body proves to be a lot more challenging to dispose of than one might anticipate, especially when it is accidentally shipped in a cake cooler to the over-the-top billionaire wedding Meddy, her Ma, and aunties are working, at an island resort on the California coastline. It’s the biggest job yet for their family wedding business—“Don’t leave your big day to chance, leave it to the Chans!”—and nothing, not even an unsavory corpse, will get in the way of her auntie’s perfect buttercream cake flowers.
But things go from inconvenient to downright torturous when Meddy’s great college love—and biggest heartbreak—makes a surprise appearance amid the wedding chaos. Is it possible to escape murder charges, charm her ex back into her life, and pull off a stunning wedding all in one weekend?

Movies/Tv Releases:

Everyone and their dog knows what TV release I am hyped for this month (along with most of the book community) THE GRISHAVERSE TV SHOW. It is being released on Netflix of April 23rd and it cannot come quick enough!! I am actually going to die when I see the Crows!

Personal Life:

With still being in Lockdown there isn’t much I am doing to be excited about but it is my brothers 16th Birthday at the end of the month so I am excited for that. I am also excited to enjoy the Easter Holidays which officially starts tomorrow for me.

Goals:

  • I want to read 8 books this month. I had to up my yearly book goal this year to 123 books because I hit my previous goal of 52 books in March and then some since my current total is 63 books. My goal of 8 books a month has been standing me in good stead as it seems to make me want to read more than that so I am keeping it up.
  • Since it is Camp NaNoWriMo this month, I want to write daily. But I am not working on a single project as I am still working on this for my creative writing class this term so I will be writing daily but on different things.
  • I want to try do some more exercise because I am off for most of April so I have more free time.
  • I also want to keep up with my Bookstagram account. Running both my blog and that is becoming quite hectic but I love both of these platforms so I want to keep it up, but I might do some schedule shuffling until I find a system that works better.

Sorry this is so short. I hope you all enjoyed anyway, have a great day and see you all tomorrow! ❤

What are you most excited about this coming month?
Is there any big releases that I’ve missed?
Do get behind on your studies often or do you always keep on top of things?
