Hi Guys!
Happy Friday! How has your week been? Mine has been great! I am still on holiday, coming home tomorrow though which is bittersweet because I have loved being away but at the same time I do kind of miss my own bed.
Anyway, I have done this bookish meme a lot before (hence the #10 in the title haha) I had seen it on Sepia Reads Blog (who I love and you definitely should check out!) but I believe it was originally started by Wandering Worlds. Here are the rules:
What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines? If you want to make your own post, feel free to use or edit the banner above, and follow the rules below:
If you’re using Twitter, don’t forget to use #FirstLinesFridays!
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!
“Get on your knees,” a cold voice commanded.
Eden Matthews sank to her knees. Half a dozen men and women next to her did the same. One woman was sobbing, and a man was begging for his life. But Eden saw no mercy in the eyes of the man who stood in front of her holding a gun to her head.
I know this is a pretty short excerpt but any more and I think it would have been super guessable. I adored this book. It was so different to anything I’d read before and I can’t wait to read more from this author because WOW did it blow me away. It’s clear that it jumps straight into the action, and it’s just so well paced and gripping. Can’t recommend enough.
So make your guess now! What book do you think this is??
NO CHEATING!
So the book is….

Love in the Wild by Emma Castle. I reviewed this the other day so I won’t ramble on about how much I loved this too much because I will just link to that and you can read my thoughts there. But seriously, this was awesome – 5 stars. You need to pick it up.
(Review)
Here’s the blurb:
A Sensual, Powerful, And Thought Provoking Tarzan Retelling
Eden Matthews stumbled upon the discovery of a lifetime while photographing wildlife deep in the heart of Africa…
A gorgeous god of a man living in the wilds of the African jungle among a family of gorillas…
When he saves her life she’s compelled to uncover the man’s tragic past and the fate which led him to grow up in the wild.
But Eden soon learns she can take man from the wild, but she can’t take the wild out of the man…
When her savage savior soon shows her just want he wants of her…her sensual surrender, she finds she can’t resist him teaching her how to love…in the wild.
So would you read this book? Or have you read this book, and did you manage to guess it? I can’t recommend it enough. I can’t wait to read more from Emma Castle because this was seriously amazing. Anyway, that’s all from me for this week, I’ll stop rambling now. I hope you enjoyed this and I hope to see you again on Sunday 🙂
