First Lines Friday #11

Hi Guys!

Happy Friday! How has your week been? Mine has been okay. I got my second vaccine the other day and I am most definitely still feeling the after-effects of it, which is super bizarre because I had no symptoms after the first. Luckily I am feeling much better today and glad to be double vaxxed now!
Anyway, I have done this bookish meme a lot before (hence the #11 in the title haha) I had seen it on Sepia Reads Blog (who I love and you definitely should check out!) but I believe it was originally started by Wandering Worlds. Here are the rules:

What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines? If you want to make your own post, feel free to use or edit the banner above, and follow the rules below:
If you’re using Twitter, don’t forget to use #FirstLinesFridays!

  1. Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  2. Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  3. Finally… reveal the book!

She won’t wake up, and I know right away that this was a mistake. It was a huge mistake. I grip her shoulders, wrapping my fingers around her arms and shaking. She doesn’t move. God, no, this can’t be happening. Not now, not here. I shake her again, but her head flops to the side.

I know this isn’t as exciting as most of the openers that I usually put here but I loved this book. It is most certainly 18+ and has some triggering topics so it might not be for everyone but if you are a fan of darker romances then this might be up your street because I loved it.

So make your guess now! What book do you think this is??
NO CHEATING!

So the book is….

Hell’s Knights by Bella Jewel. I reviewed this the other day so I won’t ramble on about how much I loved this too much because I will just link to that and you can read my thoughts there. But seriously, this was awesome – 5 stars. You need to pick it up if you like MC Romances.
(Review)
Here’s the blurb:

A modern day biker romance.
Addison has had a hard life. Her mother is useless, and her father hasn’t been in her life for years. When her mother dies, she’s left with no money and an angry man after her. She goes to the only person she knows can take care of her right now – her father. She knows her father is the President of an MC club, but she doesn’t quite realize just how much she will come to rely on that club.
Cade is everything she knows she should stay away from, and yet she can’t seem to keep herself from wanting him. He’s the club VP, gorgeous, rugged, charming and he makes her feel again. She should be running, she should be escaping the demons of her past, but instead, she finds herself falling for the gorgeous biker.
Come on this whirlwind romance with two broken people, who figure out how to put each other back together.

So would you read this book? Or have you read this book, and did you manage to guess it? I can’t recommend it enough. Anyway, that’s all from me for this week, I’ll stop rambling now. I hope you enjoyed this and I hope to see you with a review on Sunday 🙂
