New Years Resolutions Tag/ My Reading Resolutions for 2018

Hi,

I saw this tag on Bookish Queen Blog and liked the questions. I also realised that I am slowly running out of year to do these types of posts and thought I could quickly bundle my reading goals for 2018 onto the end of this one cause they are pretty short anyway. The original creator of this tag was Charr Frears. I hope you enjoy.

1. An author you’d like to read (that you’ve never read before).

Sarah J. Maas – I know what a shocker! She is undoubtedly become one of the best YA fantasy writers of the past decade and I bought her acclaimed A Court of Thorns and Roses Series and have wanted to read to for ages and just haven’t.
I am going to do it in the new year.
I PROMISE ALLIE! I PROMISE.

2. A book you’d like to read.

One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus. My best friend Cara recommended this to me and I need to get round to it.

3. A classic you’d like to read.

Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. This was my dads favourite classic growing up and I want to give it a shot.

4. A book you’d like to re-read.

I will probably re-read many books but at the current moment I am craving the Lake series by AnnaLisa Grant.

5. A book you’ve had for ages and want to read.

Twilight – Eclipse. I loved the first two and I need to finish this and the 4th.

6. A big book you’d like to read.

What counts as big? I don’t know? I will literally read anything if it takes my fancy I won’t look at the length (lol) One of the books in the Fallen series by Lauren Kate – are they long?

7. An author you’ve previously read and want to read more of.

Ooooo there are so many – either Kasie West or Kirsty Moseley because I love them both.

8. A book you got for Christmas and would like to read.

I didn’t get any for Christmas… I am too fussy to be bought for apparently 😉

9. A series you want to read from start to finish.

The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater.

10. A series you want to finish that you’ve already started.

The Matched Series by Allie Condie. I got these for my dissertation and then changed topic so I started them and never finished – I really want to get them done cause they intrigued me.

11. Do you set reading goals? If so, how many books do you want to read in 2018?

I do and here they come…

Firstly my overall goal of the year is to read 35 books. I read just under 70 this year and I hope to get close to that but with a stressful school year ahead I don’t want the pressure of surpassing this years goal. If I can manage 35 I will be happy and if I pass it I can always up it.
Another goal is to read for adult fiction because I basically only read YA or NA and I want to expand my horizons. I don’t want to give a definite number because that again adds stress.
My final “OFFICIAL” goal is to read at least 10 books I own but have not yet read cause if I don’t do that then my TBR will just keep piling up.

So thats it – a nice succinct list of goals – if I decide I want more I ca always add it. I am easy like that 😉

Thanks and Happy Reading,
Maisy.

I’m excited and kind if weary. I really enjoyed Scorpio Races but I wasn’t crazy about her Shiver series.

    1. I read her shiver series too and wasn’t the biggest fan but everyone I have spoke to has recommended this series so much I was willing to give her another shot.
I also own her lament series that I have wanted to read for a while, hopefully I can get round to that too.

I hope your challenge goes well and you have a great new year 😊
