Hiya!
Today is an extremely auspicious day, because for once I am actually doing a tag in which I was actually tagged to do XD I know it’s unbelievable. Please feel free to pause here to compose yourself before continuing into this unheard-of territory.
Better?
So I was just tagged to do this by the adorable Siobhan @ Novelties. As always you should check her out if you haven’t (if you haven’t have you been living under a rock?) She had some incredible answers, so thank you very very much for tagging me to do this because it looks like a blast! Mixing two of my favourite things: music and books, what could be better. The basic jist is that I pick characters based on the stereotype given and then I tell you the song that makes me think of them.
Rules
- Pick your characters
- Choose their song
- Link to OG post at FictionNoChaser
- Tag some friends
Stereotypes:
YA Hero
Daemon from the Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. He is a pretty obvious choice, at least for me. He is dreamy and swoon-worthy, broody and defensive, over-protective and brave. Willing to do anything for the ones he loves.
” I know it sounds extreme
I hope that you will believe me
I wish it wasn’t true, but it is
I’m in too deep
I sit alone and think
Of all the stupid things, that
I would do to be near you
For a minute or two “
YA Heroine
Grace from Mad World Series by Christine Zolendz. She fights through so much to get back to the one she loves. She literally survives centuries for him. If that isn’t commitment and determination, I don’t know what is.
” And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I’ll love you for a thousand more “
Sidekick
Luka from Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin. Despite merging into the love interest of the book, I think of him primarily as a sidekick to Yael, helping her out in all situations, but also being cut-throat and out for his own gain also, not a helpful sheep like many a sidekick. Also I thought this song was so perfect that I picked out quite a big quote XD
“Hypocritical, egotistical
Don’t wanna be the parenthetical, hypothetical
Working onto something that I’m proud of, out of the box
An epoxy to the world and the vision we’ve lost
I’m an apostrophe
I’m just a symbol to remind you that there’s more to see
I’m just a product of the system, a catastrophe
And yet a masterpiece, and yet I’m half-diseased
And when I am deceased
At least I go down to the grave and die happily
Leave the body and my soul to be a part of thee
I do what it takes
Whatever it takes
‘Cause I love the adrenaline in my veins
I do whatever it takes
‘Cause I love how it feels when I break the chains
Whatever it takes
You take me to the top, I’m ready for
Whatever it takes
‘Cause I love the adrenaline in my veins
I do what it takes”
The Chosen One
Gemma from the Fallen Star series by Jessica Sorenson. She is the epitome of this stereotype that I hate so much. I really didn’t like her as a character because she was constantly going on about her being the chosen one. Have some humble pie little girl.
” Didn’t know how but I always had a feeling
I was gonna be that one in a million
Always had high, high hopes
Mama said
Fulfill the prophecy
Be something greater
Go make a legacy
Manifest destiny “
Bad Boy
Flynn from the Flynn Series by Sophie McKenzie. He is the guy your parents warned you about, and so much more. There’s more than meets the eye with him and that’s why he was my first book boyfriend. This song is perfect because River and Flynn’s story ties in with Romeo and Juliet quite a bit.
” That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles
And my daddy said, “Stay away from Juliet”
And I was crying on the staircase
Begging you, please, don’t go “
Character You Love to Hate
Carter from Nothing Left to Lose by Kirsty Moseley – He is pure scum of the earth and I love hating him and everything he stands for. This song is more about how Anna feels and less Carter, but do you know how hard it is to think of a song that reminds you of someone as horrific as him? And this is like one of my all time favourite songs.
” Say goodbye, as we dance with the devil tonight
Don’t you dare look at him in the eye
As we dance with the devil tonight
Trembling, crawling across my skin
Feeling your cold dead eyes
Stealing the life of mine “
Love Triangle
Kami, Jared and Ash from the Lynburn Legacy Series by Sarah Rees Brennan. If you know me I love a Love Triangle. The drama of a love triangle is too much for me to handle and I can’t describe how much I adore them! And this is my favourite series of all time, hence why then these two pair up to me it is incredible!!!
I couldn’t encompass this into one song so here are three because together they make up the relationship.
“No chance no way I won’t say it, no no
(Give up, give in, check the grin you’re in love)
This scene won’t play I won’t say I’m in love
(We’ll do it until you admit you’re in love)
You’re way off base I won’t say it
Get off my case I won’t say it
(Girl don’t be proud it’s okay you’re in love)
At least out loud I won’t say I’m in love
” I’d never ask you cause deep down
I’m certain I know what you’d say
You’d say I’m sorry believe me
I love you but not in that way “
” Say there’s no future
For us as a pair
And though I may know
I don’t care
Just for this moment
As long as you’re mine
Come be how you want to
And see how bright we shine “
Villain
I feel like this is also just a character I love to hate because in my case, that is most villains but after Carter my number two villain would be Serena McBee from The Phobos Series (Ascension and Distortion) by Victor Dixen. She is only out for herself, extremely manipulative and will get rid of anyone in her way. This song doesn’t really remind me of Serena, but it is from the musical Be More Chill, and I can see similarities between Serena and S.Q.U.I.P – they are both so manipulative and very few people see through it.
” Can you see the vision clearly, Jeremy?
Users embracing and interfacing
bee boo bee boo “
Terrible Parent
All adults in the Kennedy Boys Series by Siobhan Davis. I adored these but what can I say about the messed up sexual relations in this family…none of them are good people. Keep your children far away.
This song is more about a parent who wishes they were better, which is what I would like to believe those parents also wish.
“That night, I tucked you into bed
I will never forget how you sat up and said
“Is there another truck coming to our driveway?
A truck that will take mommy away”
And the house felt so big, and I felt so small
The house felt so big, and I
And I knew there would be moments that I’d miss
And I knew there would be space I couldn’t fill
And I knew I’d come up short a million different ways
And I did
And I do
And I will”
Pet
Cinnamon, Stargirl’s pet rat from Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli. Which I will have a review for up tomorrow. Who could wish for a cuter companion.
” You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You never know, dear, how much I love you
Please don’t take my sunshine away “
I Tag…

I hope you all enjoyed this. I can tell you I have not spent this long on a blog post in ages. I had to pop out to the shops just to distract myself from thinking about it, because I started it at 11 am and its now 6 pm…
See you tomorrow 🙂

Thank you so much for the tag. This might take me a while to do because I am horrible at picking music that I think relates to a book/character but I will post it eventually.
