The Grinch Book Tag

Hi,

Only 5 days till Christmas!!! I am in total Christmas mode (a.k.a singing buble 24/7, eating all the chocolate and wishing for snow to come) So I thought I would kill my Christmas the grinchspirit my talking about the Grinch. Or maybe it means I times my christmassiness by ten like when the Grinch’s heart grew?

I saw this post on Dani’s Bookshelf and despite not being tagged I am doing anyway. Check hers out she had some snazzy answers.

Half of the lights on the Christmas tree are burnt out: Name a book/series/character that started out good but then went downhill:

House of Night Series by P. C and Kristen Cast.
This started out like any normal read for me. I had been asked by a friend to read it and I trust their bookish instincts so I gave it a try. Book one was okay – not the best but not painful either. I liked the premise and some of the characters (Damien) were enjoyable to read.
Then book 2 happened…..
I don’t have words for the kind of pain I felt from this book. I don’t even fathom a full reason. I think it was a culminatve effort between the horrendous plot line, overly obvious “bad guy” and the worst character ever written into fruition – Zoey. I have ranted about her before on may occasion, so I wont bore you with the tediousness of her because I just can’t even comprehend her idiocy.
*Sighs and hangs head in pain*

Annoying Great Aunt Sally who will not leave you alone: Name a book that you didn’t enjoy, but everyone else seems to love so it never goes away:

The hunger games by Suzanne Collins.
Again, I don’t really know why I didn’t like this. I just rememeber not enjoying it. I really liked the films so it cant be the characters or the premise. I am confused but the distaste is still there.
Maybe I will try it again in the new year and see where it gets me.

Your pets keep knocking over the Christmas decoration: Name a character that kept messing things up for everyone else (can’t pick a villain!) :

Dee from the Lux Series. I am not saying I hate Dee because I don’t and without her there would be no Lux series which is a travesty. But for the purpose of this question… in theory if Dee hadn’t been so persistent in having human friends – Katy wouldn’t needed to be saved/guarded/protected by daemon and then the whole plot falls through. SO in theory it is all Dee’s fault, BUT I still love Dee and the story.

You hear your parents putting out the presents and learn Santa isn’t real: Name a book you were spoiled for:

Now that I am thinking about it I don’t think I have been spoiled for any plot.
How have I been so lucky?
It’s a Christmas miracle.

It’s freezing outside: Name a main character you just couldn’t connect with:

This is super tough because I always tend to support a protangonist, I guess i’m easy to please. So I will have to say Zoey from the House of night series again.

Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ and it’s giving you anti-romantic feelings: Name a couple you couldn’t stand:

Sookie and Bill from The Sookie Stackhouse Series by Charlaine Harris. This is purly because I love Eric and Eric loves Sookie – I want Eric to be happy therefore HE NEEDS TO BE WITH SOOKIE!!
Also Bill was only with Sookie because the Queen asked him to. Not out of love.

That scratchy homemade wool sweater you got for Christmas years ago but won’t get rid of: show some books that have been sitting on your shelves for a while, and you aren’t motivated to read, but you don’t have the heart to get rid of:

Girl Missing by Sophie McKenzie. I love Sophie McKenzie but for some reason I never got round to it. I would say maybe soon but we all know it’s probably not going to happen.

Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer: Name a character death you still are mad about:

BLAKKEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FLAAAAKKKEEE!!!
I AM CRYING JUST THINKING ABOUT IT!!
YES HE WAS NOT THE NICEST PERSON BUT THERE WAS SOMETHING LIKEABLE ABOUT HIM! HE DID NOT DESERVE THAT!!!!
(Blake from the Lux Series BTW)

The malls are overly crowded with holiday shoppers: Name a series that has too many books in it/went on too long:

The Fallen Star series by Jessica Sorenson. The first four are incredible – the last two are completely pointless and the ending in the sixth is literally the biggest writing pet peeve of mine everrrrr.
Technically the 5th and 6th books are a separate follow on series but it is basically the same one.

The Grinch: Name a main character you HATE (No villians again!)

Really…..again.
I bet no one could guess what I am about to say….

*Insert another random name just to throw you off 😉 *

….Zoey.
What can I say? I’m stubborn. If I don’t like something I stick to it.

I will be back tomorrow with another Christmas post hopefully.

Thanks and Happy Christmas,
Maisy.

      1. I think people generally do a pretty good job not spoiling stuff, because I wouldn’t have any either if I didn’t spoil stuff for myself!
