June TBR 2020

Hi all,

How was your weekend? We had incredible sun so I spent most of my time in that. Mine has been mildly ruined by extremely painful headaches that have been coming in bursts all weekend. But I can’t believe that it’s the first of June already! Nearly halfway through the 2020. For me it’s just flown by, but I know that’s not the case for many. But anyway, Enough rambling, on with my TBR for the month!

Continued Reads:

Obscured by C.M Boers. Like I have been saying for ages, I am rereading this. Currently on 74% so I’m nearly done. I thought I had reviewed it harshly previously, so I thought I’d reread it but now I remember exactly why I didn’t like it hahaha.

Abby Martin thought she was an ordinary girl about to start high school. But when her mom announces that they’re moving to Arizona, vivid nightmares start plaguing Abby’s nights. As she settles into her new school and a cute guy named Pete catches her eye, she hopes that life might somehow get back to normal. To Abby’s horror, “normal” becomes a thing of the past as she’s swept up into a world of immortal protectors wielding supernatural gifts. When Abby realizes she’s a pawn in a centuries-old feud, she must figure out who she can trust before she’s caught in the crossfire.
Prepare yourself for heart-pounding suspense in the world of Obscured, where nothing is as it seems and danger lurks in unexpected places.

New Standalone:

Theatrical by Maggie Harcourt. I’ve been wanting to read this for months but I just haven’t got to it yet. Contemporary Romances are perfect for the summer and I’m just in the mood for it.

Hope dreams of working backstage in a theatre, and she’s determined to make it without the help of her famous costume designer mum. So when she lands an internship on a major production, she tells no one. But with a stroppy Hollywood star and his hot young understudy upstaging Hope’s focus, she’s soon struggling to keep her cool… and her secret.

Another YA Contemporary Romance I want to get to this month is the Anatomical Shape of a Heart by Jenn Bennett. I’ve been desperately waiting to read Chasing Lucky but since it’s release date has been delayed I thought I’d read this next.

Beatrix Adams knows exactly how she’s spending the summer before her senior year. Determined to follow in Da Vinci’s footsteps, she’s ready to tackle the one thing that will give her an advantage in a museum-sponsored scholarship contest: drawing actual cadavers. But when she tries to sneak her way into the hospital’s Willed Body program and misses the last metro train home, she meets a boy who turns her summer plans upside down.
Jack is charming, wildly attractive, and possibly one of San Francisco’s most notorious graffiti artists. On midnight buses and city rooftops, Beatrix begins to see who Jack really is—and tries to uncover what he’s hiding that leaves him so wounded. But will these secrets come back to haunt him? Or will the skeletons in her family’s closet tear them apart?

I was kindly gifted Haze by Rebecca Crunden in exchange for an honest review, so I’m excited to get to this one. It sounds truly amazing!

When Eliza Owens gets a phone call in the middle of the night from a girl she’s never met, she doesn’t know what to think. The girl introduces herself as Paige, and says she used to date Erik Stern, Eliza’s fiancé. What’s more, she has something important to discuss. The only problem? Paige has been dead for years. Believing it to be a sick prank, Eliza tries to force it from her mind until Sam, Eliza’s older sister, tells her she met Paige only a few weeks before. And, according to Sam, Paige has nothing nice to say about Erik. The fight which follows shatters the lives of everyone involved, and Erik disappears without a trace. Five years later, Erik returns to town after his father’s death. Old wounds quickly resurface, and with them several burning questions. None the least of which is: Who spoke to Eliza and Sam if it wasn’t Paige? And why?

Continued Series:

I want to read the final book in the struck series, Scorched (Struck #4) by Joss Stirling. I read Shaken last month and just like the rest of the series – I adored it. I don’t think this will let me down.

Love is a fire. But who will get burned?Ember Lord is facing charges for the murder of her father. She was found at the scene of the crime, holding the murder weapon, and refuses to explain herself.Joe Masters is tasked with getting under Ember’s skin, and breaking through her stony facade; to gain her trust and find out what her plans are now her father’s legally-questionable business is under her control. But as the two get closer, Joe begins to break down the wall that Ember has built around herself, and gets a glimpse of the truth behind. Is he really falling for a cold-hearted killer? Or is there more to the murder than meets the eye?The incredible final instalment of Joss Stirling’s Young Detective Agency series, a companion novel to Stung, Shaken, and the award-winning Struck. Romantic thrillers that will make your heart skip a beat.

That’s all I’ve picked for this month. I want to hear about your reading goals for this month in the comments. Maybe hearing what you guys are excited for will hype me up to read! Have a good day ❤
