My January Bullet Journals 2021

Hey guys!

How are you doing today? I’m feeling kind of sick actually so I might just have a day of lounging in my bed feeling sorry for myself haha. Today I am very excited to show off my January Bullet Journal Spreads because I am super super proud of my personal one and think it might be one of my favourite themes yet. If you have never seen any of my bullet journalling posts before here is a link to them if you are interested. I started bullet journalling at the start of 2020 and it has quickly became one of my favourite hobbies. But that’s enough pre-amble – let me get into telling you about my journals if you are interested in that – if not just skip down to the photos of my spreads.

How I Journal:

I have two bullet journals, one for blogging/reading and then one for my personal everyday life and while this isn’t typical (usually the point of bullet journals is to have everything in one place) but I find that having them separated works best for me. Plus, I get to do two different themes. I decided to upgrade my personal bullet journal this year from an A5 to B5 because I do use it everyday and I wanted a little bit more space than before which I don’t need for my blogging journal. So far I am liking this upgrade as it meant I could condense down all my spreads into fewer pages but I am still not 100% used to the larger size of it now so it’s harder to plan out spreads.

My Supplies:

If there is one thing I’ve learnt about bullet journalling it is that you do not need fancy stuff to do it. I started with highlighters and the journals and that was it. I have since upgraded because I have fallen in love with journalling and it is where I want to spend my money but you definitely do not need to do that.

My Blogging Bullet Journal:

This is my blogging/reading bullet journal. It is a stunning maroony-berry-purple and I love it. It was £8.99 on Amazon if I remember correctly and despite the lower price tag I cannot recommend it enough. It is very sturdy with decent page thickness. I’ve only had the ink bleed through once or twice when I used it last year. I read reviews saying it fell apart on them but I used mine every single day in 2020 and it didn’t break.

I decided on a snowflake, wintery theme for my blogging bujo because I got some blue pastel tombow markers for Christmas and I wanted to put them to use. I am pretty happy with this spread because usually I keep each page to itself but I liked how I mixed the cover page with my reading goals. I’d like to do this more in 2021. *Also can we please ignore that January is spelt wrong once but correct the other times…thank you haha.

This spread hasn’t changed much since last years journals because I’ve found a system that works. I like that the titles are bolder in this than I used to do but the handwriting could definitely use some tidying up, but that will come with practice.

This calendar and stats pages. My stats spread is unchanged from 2020 but for some reason I used to make my calendar horizontal rather than vertical in my old BuJo’s so I flipped it to vertical so it made more sense. So far I still have plenty of space to write and it looks far nicer.

Similarly, this is basically the same as what I used to do for my Books I got This Month spread but instead of me tracking my physical and e-books separately I decided to change it to Purchased and Gifted since I have been receiving so many Netgalley reads recently. I don’t know if I will keep this up once Uni starts and I request less books but it’s working great for now.

Lastly we have my favourites spread, which is basically a cheat sheet for my monthly wrap-up posts. But it’s also fun to look back and see what I was loving in this month specifically. So yeah, I am pretty happy with this spread overall and the unison between the pages. Plus I love the simple colours and the nice functional spreads.

My Personal Bullet Journal:

This is my personal bullet journal. It is massive. I know it sounds dumb but even though I knew it would be bigger than my old one, it is so much bigger so making these spreads I found pretty difficult because I wasn’t used to the new proportions. I am getting used to the fact it is bigger now but only slightly. It’s been great for condensing my monthly use into fewer pages but it still feels huge haha.

This is a sort of clinking of glasses, champagne, celebration, New Years themed spread. I saw the inspiration on Pinterest for this one. This is the theme that I am so so so proud of! I love everything about it – the colour, the idea, the spacing, the handwriting. I was really happy with my calligraphy for the title but even happier with my drawing of the glasses because damn they were difficult to draw. I also managed to combine my notes and goals page into one because of the size of this journal which is nice because I never did need a whole page for them before. Also, sorry for the lighting in these later photos, I took them on a different day to the first.

This is the biggest change to my journalling spread. My calendar is the same, but I tried changing my exercise tracker and habit tracker to fit on a singular page. I already know I won’t be keeping this style. I might try keep it to one page in the future but this specific style is currently not really working for me. It’s too busy and too much to track, too many insignificant things. Plus I miss my water tracker.

Lastly we have my weekly spread. I wanted to again save space by combining the short 3 day week with the following 7 day week. The next weeks go back to normal but obviously I’m not showing them all because they are all identical. I am super happy with how minimal they are and the writing of the days since I have never tried that before. I like the small week tracker at the top and then the space for a themed doodle. I will definitely be keeping this style up because so far I am loving it for my daily to do lists.

So those are my spreads. Sorry for the change of lighting in the last few photos, Scottish weather has never been predicable. What did you do for your January spreads? I am really happy with mine, and now I need to start thinking of my February themes! Anyway, have a great day and I will see you tomorrow!

  1. Beautiful spreads! I love the glass drawings, very nice! I also used yellow as my colour for January which is very unusual for me as I don’t love yellow when I use it but I love it when other people do 😀

      1. I did a lightbulb theme for my January pages – saw it on Pinterest a few times and thought it looked interesting so I decided to give it a go. Was finally able to put my neglected yellow markers to use!
